3. Almost every nation has a reputation of some kind. The English are reputed to be cold and reserved. In reality they are steady, easy-going and fond of sport..

4. The Scots are extravagant, their traditions are colourful and exciting. The Gaelic language and songs, the tartan, the bagpipes are completely Scottish.

5. Welshmen have contributed heavily to poetry, songs and drama. The national Welsh Eisteddfod is devoted to music, literature and the arts. It is a competitive festival and is held in the first week of August.

12. Christmas – the most ambitious in its scope of all holidays. This Christian holiday is dedicated to the birth of Jesus Christ Children hang stockings by the fireplaces for gifts that Santa will drop in them. This tradition is associated with one of the legends about St. Nicholas.

13. On this day the Englishmen congratulate beloved pets – horses, dogs, cats etc. Men traditionally present jewelers. Moreover, they can have T – shirts with the name of his / her lover. It so happens that instead of « valentines », women get apple – symbol of love beauty.
