A Web Quest Inquiring Minds Using the Web A Web Quest is an inquiry- orientated activity in which some or all of the information that learners interact with comes from resources on the Internet.

WebQuest Six Part Harmony The Introduction orients students and captures their interest. The Task describes the activity's end product. The Process explains strategies students should use to complete the task. The Resources are the Web sites students will use to complete the task. The Evaluation measures the results of the activity. The Conclusion sums up the activity and encourages students to reflect on its process and results.

Introduction Write a short paragraph to introduce the activity to the students. May include a role or a scenario, e.g. “You are a detective....” Give an overview

WebQuest The Task describes the activity's end product. It could be a product, like a HyperStudio stack or PowerPoint presentation, or it might be a verbal act, such as being able to explain a specific topic. It could be a play, a report, a survey, a database, a letter, a diorama. The possibilities are endless. The Task

The Process List the steps the learner will use to accomplish the task Step 1 Step 2 Step 3

The Process explains strategies students should use to complete the task. It may include strategies for dividing the task into subtasks, descriptions of roles to be played or perpectives to be taken by each learner. The instructor can also use this place to provide learning advice and interpersonal process advice, such as how to conduct a brainstorming session. The Evaluation measures the results of the activity. Since the learning we're looking for is at the loftier reaches of Bloom's Taxonomy, we can't gauge it with (readily) with a multiple-choice test. An evaluation rubric is called for. The Evaluation WebQuest

Conclusion Include a few sentence that summarize what the students will have accomplished or learned by completing the WebQuest. You may ask the students to reflect upon what they have learned and use their Journal to preserve their reflections.

The Conclusion sums up the activity and encourages students to reflect on its process and results. It rounds out the document and provides that reader with a sense of closure. One good use for the conclusion section is to suggest questions that a teacher might use in whole class discussion to debrief a lesson. The Conclusion WebQuest

Branching Out This is a place to invite the students to grow. Include suggestions for further reading and websites with related, expanded, or tangential information.

WebQuest The Introduction You will be a detective by finding information about five Pennsylvania Artists from different time periods. After learning about these artists you will need to choose two to compare and one to copy. By learning about the artist and his/her artwork, you will understand and appreciate that work and the process the artist used to create his/her paintings.
