3 www.ROYEAP.org Our Mission To work together and end the violent cycle among the youth, empower and build their self-esteem, and confidence. To advocate on behalf of at risk youth in the community who are most vulnerable and at least to obtain resource on their own connect them to community resources.

5 www.ROYEAP.org History A Registered Social Service Worker who had several years experience working in the community with multi-cultural people and youth with diverse background. Founded the idea through good spirited discussions with "at risk" youth, who had come in conflict with the law, conflict with the educational system, and youth who faced employment barriers due to criminal record. R.O.Y.E. itself, began in August OF 2006, and was further developed in May of 2007 Soon after, R.O.Y.E. was officially born in September of 2007, with aims to support, empower, and promote responsibility among youth. The program intends on helping the youth get back on track, to end their acts of inconsideration, and violence, and to positively contribute to their community and society. All in all, we are a diverse group of individuals with professional backgrounds, WHO believe that the youth are the FUTURE. We intend on assisting the youth to achieve their FULL potential, through open discussion, clarity of the mind, personal reflection, positive empowerment, and BY building their self- esteem UP.

6 www.ROYEAP.org Rational The “Reaching Out” Youth Empowerment Access Program is a new initiative developed for youths in at risk communities as an alternative to youth violence and delinquency that has plagued their neighborhoods. In recognition of the fact that many of these youths who come in conflict with the law are poorly under served, are stigmatized, discriminated and faces barriers to higher education, employment barriers gaining access to resources. R.OY.E intentions are to provide support and help at risk youth achieve their full potential while accepting personal and social responsibility and end the violence cycle among themselves and make a difference within there community.We will empower at risk youth by building their self esteem, advocate, eliminate or alleviate barriers and connect them to educational, employment and apprenticeship opportunities. Our dedication and commitment is to the transformation, and support “at risk” youth as they full- fil their obligations to pursue opportunities and program that will enhance and enable them to become self-sufficient and contribute positively to their community. Some common causes of delinquency among youths today stems from social, political and economic factors lack of resources.

7 www.ROYEAP.org Program Goals To increase opportunities for “ at risk” youths to access and participate in post secondary education by collaborating with the educational system To empower and build at risk youth self-esteem, promote personal and social responsibility among at risk youth. To advocate for at risk youths who experience barriers to employment opportunity because of a criminal record. To provide opportunities for youths to enhance identify and develop their talent and leadership skills to full potential by offering creativity programs To educate and increase youths knowledge of the Justice System by disseminating of relevant information

8 www.ROYEAP.org Program Description Four days per week workshop and group discussions on variety topics such as Conflict Resolution, Respect yourself, and Motivational speaker, Anger Management, Relationship Management and Harm Reduction Support youth as they ful-fill their obligations to pursue opportunities. On-going support and individual counselling to assist participants in managing and coping with personal difficulties Workshop on life skills development and personal goals setting and self -awareness Information session on the Justice System Workshop on professional speakers from community organization Toronto Police Services, Lawyers, and Probation Officers, Provide Information/Referral Service to community resources Refer and connect at risk youth to post secondary educational / apprenticeship program

9 www.ROYEAP.org Program Outcome Developing the ability to build positive relationship with law enforcement police and community members Developing healthy positive relationships with parents, authorities, guardians, peers Demonstration of critical thinking skill through self-esteem Developing the ability to constantly respect themselves, others and the norm of society Demonstrate open minds to fuel motivation and confidence to stimulate self-efficiency Developing knowledge of the Justice system and harm reduction and healthy life style Developing motivation, self-confidence that lead to jobs and educational and career opportunities

10 www.ROYEAP.org Program Outcome Access to employment, apprenticeship program opportunities Developing ability to demonstrate conflict resolution and stress management techniques in daily life routine. Registration into post- secondary institution. Demonstration of self esteem, confidence and social skills through use of effective communication Developing knowledge and understanding of the Justice System and the barriers of having a criminal record Youth involvement in their neighborhood and contributing positively the community and making a deference.
