3. Liberation Performing Arts Troupe in a unique music, dance and theatre troupe in India. Twenty five underprivileged transgender women who have great interest in music, dance and theatre have been chosen to be a part of this troupe.

4. Many of these women come from a very poor background. These are women who want to change their lives and the lives of others for good. Many of these women come from a very poor background. These are women who want to change their lives and the lives of others for good.

5. These women undergo training in Tamil folk music, dance and theatre along with African and South American tribal aboriginal music.

6. The teachers train them are some of the best sound, music and dance gurus.

7. Our music troupe will not play any electronic instruments.

8. This project not only provides livelihood for transwomen but also brings them respect as artists. This changes their lifes and opens them yo a new world of opportunities and possibilities.

9. We play only wooden, bamboo, clay, metal and stone instruments.

10. Our troupe uses musical instruments like the Metallophone, Xylophone, Lithophone, Bamboo shakers, Full set of body and dance rattles, Bamboo bongos and scrapers, Overtone bamboo flute, Ocarina, Ocean drum and the Thappu drums.

11. This project is an initiative of transgender rights activist, actress and writer Kalki Subramaniam. She is also the founder of Sahodari Foundation under which the Liberation Performing Arts Troupe was initiated.
