Heart Disease Facts 1 in 6 deaths each year in the U.S. is from heart disease. Heart disease is the leading cause of death for men and women. 715,000 Americans have a heart attack each year. 525,000 are a first heart attack. 190,000 happen in people who have already had a heart attack.
