Conversion Problems King Henry Died __base unit__ Drinking Chocolate Milk We could express how each of the prefixes is related to each other using equivalencies Real life example $1 = 4 quarters = 10 dimes = 20 nickels = 100 pennies Metric example 1 meter = 10 decimeters = 100 centimeters = 1000 millimeters If we set 2 measurements that are equal to each other up as a ratio, the ratio will equal 1. These are conversion factors (a ratio of equivalent measurements).
3
Conversion Problems When a measurements is multiplied by a conversion factor, the actual size of the measurement remains the same, however the numerical value will change because the prefix for the unit is changing.
