3 FUNCTIONS OF MSS Support for the body Provision of motion Protection of vital organs Storage for calcium and phosphorus Haemopoiesis

4 DIAGNOSTIC IMAGING TECHNIQUES FOR MSS Radiography Ultra-sonography Scintigraphy Computed tomography (CT Scan) Magnetic Resonance imaging (MRI)

5 Radiographic examination Useful for evaluation of many small animal and equine orthopeadic conditions Bones are limited in its response to diseases: ►Production of new bone/sclerosis (more radiopaque) ►localized area of bone lysis (more radiolucent) ►generalized increased bone density ►generalized decreased bone density
