4 Digital Driver License  NJ DDL since 2004 – Eliminated laminated paper licenses.  Why do you think NJ made this change?

7 Altering a License  Cannot alter a license in any way.  Cannot show an altered license at any time. Consequences of altering a license: - Fine up to $1,000 - Up to 6 months in prison - Loss of Driving Privledge

8 Fake/illegal Licenses  It is also against the law to poses a license illegally.  Consequences:  Fine from $200 - $500  30 to 90 days in prison  Loss of License

9 Lost or Stolen License  Report a lost or stolen license to the Police  A duplicate for a lost or stolen license will cost you $11  A duplicate for a lost or stolen permit will cost you $5

10 Types of NJ Licenses  There are 6 different types of licenses available in the state of NJ: 1. Automobile 2. Commercial (Trucks/Buses) 3. Motorcycle 4. Moped 5. Agriculture (Farming Vehicles) 6. Boat

11 Laws Governing Licenses  When you drive you must always carry on you a valid license/permit, valid insurance, vehicle registration.  If you change your address that appears on your license, you must report the change to the MVC within 1 week of moving  If you change your name that appears on your license, you must report the change to the MVC within 2 weeks of the change.

12 Laws Governing Licenses  Your permit is valid for up to 2 years  A motorist with an out of state license who moves to NJ must apply for a license within 60 days  A basic license must be renewed every 4 years
