What is Revenue Cycle? Revenue Cycle Overview According to Healthcare Financial Management Association’s definition, the Revenue Cycle is "All administrative and clinical functions that contribute to the capture, management, and collection of patient service revenue”. In other words, the Revenue Cycle is the entire life of a patient account from creation to payment. How Does Epic Affect the Revenue Cycle? Epic will bring more effectiveness and efficiency to how we interact with a patient, administer a patients data, and manage the related financials. Health Information Management (HIM) Document Management Overview Health Information Management (HIM) Document Management provides centralized electronic document management of patient health records across the BJC and WUSM network. HIM includes deficiency tracking, which creates chart deficiencies automatically, monitors the deficiencies for completion, and creates reports to take action with providers who have outstanding deficiencies. The Release of the Information (ROI) module allows you to authorize, fulfill, and document requests from the patient for their health information. Identity is the tool to identify the right patient, prevent the creation of duplicate records, and allows for merge/unmerge patient records functionality. Identity also houses the Master Patient Index (MPI). Document Management scanning capabilities allows for efficient scanning of non-electronic/paper documents for inclusion in the electronic medical record.
