Bobcats are one of the smallest cat they weigh about 15 to 30 pounds. A bobcat has black tufted ears, a spotted coat, and a short black tipped tail. The bobcats markings help it blend into rocky forest area. Its soft and silky fur ranges in color from pale grey to reddish brown.

North America is home to several kinds of wild cats most common is the bobcat. Bobcats live western United States and Canada. Bobcats live in many different kinds of habitats including forests wooden areas, swamp moutans,and deserts. Some bobcats build there homes next to cities.

Bobcats are carnivores there meat eaters, and spend most of there time hunting. When searching for food, a bobcat watches for any sign of movement. Once the bobcat has spotted its prey, it creeps slowly forward.

After about two months, the female finds a protected den. Here she gives birth to litter of two or three tiny, helpless kittens. For two months the kittens stay hiding, drinking only there mothers milk. After that the mother brings back solid food.

Bobcats sharp eyesight and exellent hearing help hunt at night and day. The soft pads on there feet help them walk silently. The hairy tufts on the tips of the bobcats ears act like antennae.

Like most other cats and bobcats are solitary. When its within 10 feet (3 meters)of its prey, the bobcat prounces. The bobcat hunts some types of prey in a different way. Instead of stalking, the cat a hidden spot and waits patiently for a prey animal to come along.
