Local Sector Profile 260-300 companies in Greater Bristol area - clusters in Avonmouth /Severnside, City Centre and Clifton approx 12,400 jobs in West of England sub-region – 20% growth in last 10 years (ABI, 2004) approx 3% of Bristol / WoE workforce – above regional and national average – 25% of SW jobs in ETS sub-sectors of – renewable energy, – waste management, – energy control, – pollution control, – sustainable transport, – environmental audit and consultancy, – organic food, – sustainable construction.

Mission BETS operates within strategic framework of the Bristol Green Capital initiative to: – support the growth of a vibrant Environmental Technologies and Services industry sector in the Bristol City-Region; – make Bristol a leading centre in Europe for ETS and good environmental management practice across all its industries; – promote the adoption and mainstreaming of BETS solutions to build a more sustainable Bristol City- Region

6. Objectives To encourage & enable networking and collaborative projects of member companies and organisations which support business innovation and growth, including: – provision of better market intelligence, – knowledge transfer, – access to finance, – Skills and training – marketing support, and – supply chain initiatives. To work with government / public agencies to develop a high quality infrastructure of sites, premises and facilities to support the expansion of the sector and its emerging activities.

To raise the profile of the Bristol city region as a centre of excellence in ETS in the UK and Europe, and promote the products and services of member companies and organisations to potential customers and investors at local, regional, national and international levels.
