2 Biography Son of German toy- makers began his puppeteer career working on the Australian children's television program Shirl's Neighbourhood as the creative director model maker and puppeteer for children's television and films – apprentice to Jim Henson

3 Post-Modern Art Movement Present day - Open to all ideas, both in choice of materials used to produce art and in methods of displaying, distributing, and consuming art. Post-Modernism emphasizes irony and playfulness

4 Early Career No formal art training past high school Process involves armiture + clay model + silicone/fiberglass cast

5 Transition to Fine Art In 1996 Mueck transitioned to fine art to produce small figures pieces Dead Dad is a silicone and mixed media sculpture of the corpse of Mueck's father reduced to about two thirds of its natural scale. It is the only sculpture in which Mueck uses his own hair to create the scalp

6 Focus & Scale Overall his work focuses more on the process of life, for example, birth, death, pregnant women Mueck's sculptures faithfully reproduce the minute detail of the human body, but play with scale to produce disconcertingly jarring visual images.
