You will work together as a team with those you are sitting with for the remainder of the quarter. – Step 1: Individually, write an interview question on a sticky note. – Step 2: Go around the circle and introduce yourselves. – Step 3: Ask the group your interview question and listen attentively to their responses, asking follow-up questions when necessary. The person who is the “heart” card will begin by asking a question and then work clockwise.

In order for us to be successful as a class this year, we have to lay some common ground for all of us to build upon: – Can you agree that you like to work in teams? – Can you agree that the point of collaborative work in this class is to accomplish something? – Can you agree that we need a standard set of expectations in order for our teams to accomplish something?
5
A “norm” is an standard/expectation that everyone agrees to follow for the betterment of a working group Let’s make norms that list what is important to your group. Using sticky notes, you will have 3 minutes to write as many “norms” for what you feel creates a “good class”. Write one norm per sticky note and place it on your desk.
6
– You might consider: Attendance Copying Participating Choosing the “easy” work Being on their phone
7
During collaborative activities, if Mrs. Snyder needs your attention she will say “If you hear me, clap once, if you hear me clap twice...” Stop all work and listen to directions. You have 3 minutes….GO!!!
8
Take the plain sheet of paper on your desk. As a group, organize the norms you created on the sticky notes into categories by grouping them together by similarities. Then, label your categories.
9
Making your Team Shield Choose 4 of the most important norms Represent the 4 norms you have chosen with your team shield. Use color! Use pictures to represent ideas! Best shield wins a clothes pin! Here’s an example…

Being part of a group means being part of a team, working together, supporting each other for a larger goal. We are going to work on building that sense of teamwork today. Your Group Mission: – Your group will be given a 50 piece puzzle. Each person will take equal pieces. No one is allowed to touch those pieces except the original person. You must communicate as a group to put your puzzle pieces together by first figuring out the picture and then talking to each other through the construction. The team that finishes first will win a clothespin!
