2 The vision of the Enterprise Data Warehouse is to provide a single repository for managing the Postal Service's corporate data assets. oThe EDW provides a common source of accurate corporate data across organizations to a wide variety of users. Replaces and eliminates the outdated “Corporate Information System” (CIS).

3 EDW & Rural Vital Few The data can be reported upon and manipulated in a variety of ways both within and across functions for deeper analysis, which can lead to additional revenue, reduced costs, and improved business practices. oA rural “percent to standard” report has been developed in EDW to assist with the management of rural delivery performance

5 EDW & Rural Vital Few The EDW main screen will appear Click on “Need Access?” to obtain a logon ID and password

6 EDW & Rural Vital Few Slides 7 through 21 will provide step- by-step instructions on how to obtain a logon ID and password to EDW If you already have an EDW logon ID and password, skip to slide number 22

7 After you click on “Need Access”, this drop down box will appear. Click on “OK” 7

8 Enter your UID (Ace logon ID) or EID (Employee ID) and click on “Next” 8 8

9 Normally, users will click on “Continue” if their request requires another manager’s approval. 9

12 This page will appear and ask you to type in the first few letters, phrase or keyword of the system for which you want to obtain a logon 12

14 The Since EDW has multiple applications, you must make a selection to narrow your search to the specific system that you require access 14

15 Highlight and double click on “EDW General Access (ALL Users)” 15

16 This page will appear verifying the system that you want to add. After verification, enter a “Date needed” and scroll to the bottom of this page

17 This part of the page will ask you to enter the name of your approving manager. Type in your approving managers last name, click on “Search”. Locate your managers name from the list, highlight it, then click on “continue”

18 Your approving managers name will appear in the text box. Click on “Next”

19 This page will appear showing a summary of the request before submission to the approving manager. At the bottom of this page, click on the “Submit Request” button.

28 EDW & Rural Vital Few The EDW system contains a “drill down” capability that allows you to obtain information at various reporting levels of the organization oFor rural percent to standard, it is possible to produce “National”, “Area”, “PFC” and/or “POOM” level reports In EDW, you must select the appropriate metrics to reach the level of information that you desire Drilling down to the POOM level will be most significant for analysis purposes, as follows:

32 EDW & Rural Vital Few 1) Highlight an MPOO level in the box. 2) Click on the right arrow to move MPOO level to the “selection” box

34 EDW & Rural Vital Few 1) Click on #2, “Report Filter” 2) Highlight desired Postal Quarter

35 EDW & Rural Vital Few 1) Click on the right arrow to move Quarter to the selection box 2) Click on “Execute Report”

38 EDW & Rural Vital Few Save as an EXCEL spreadsheet. Use EXCEL functionality to analyze the data as desired

39 EDW & Rural Vital Few Determining the “Rural Vital Few”, those offices that represent 80% of the total overrun to standard

40 EDW & Rural Vital Few Another way to identify the vital few is shown in the “Cumulative Total POOM %” column. (Any office ranked with a value between 0% and 80%)
