ecoJet
2
What is the ecoJet? New eco-friendly plane from easyJet Uses “open rotor” engines Made from lightweight Composite Frame Can fly at lower altitude and slower speed Will make massive improvement on harmful emissions produced
3
CO2 Emissions From Easyjet Planes Over The Past Ten Years CO2 Emissions from easyjet planes in the past 10 years, a decrease of 18.75%.
4
However, this is not enough With the massive increase and demand for commercial aviation, the new technologies created by companies such as easyjet have been left redundant. Below is a graph of CO2 emissions from the aviation industry over the past ten years We notice that even though easyjet have managed an 18.75% decrease in CO2, the CO2 emissions from aviation continues to rise.
5
What the ecoJet hopes to achieve and how? To reduce CO2 emissions by 50% by 2015 To reduce NOX emissions by 75% by 2015 CO2 emission levels to be at least 48.75 g/pkm Unducted fan engines Lightweight Composite Frame Is able to fly at lower speeds therefore decreasing the fuel consumption
6
How ecoJet will compare to previous easyJet models Past Models ecoJet There has been a 18.75% reduction in CO2 emissions from easyJet planes over the past ten years, now over the next eight, they plan a 50% reduction, to eradicate the effect of the increase in demand of aviation.
7
Is it possible? We notice from the previous graph(below) that if recent trends continue there will be a 40% increase in the amount of CO2 emissions produced by the aviation industry The ecoJet over the next 8 years, when it hits the sky's, is proposed to produce 50% less CO2 emissions therefore counterbalancing the effect of the increase in commercial flying. However this would mean that every company would have to adopt the same change.
8
How does the ecoJet Compare The ecoJet when compared to other planes and a hybrid car. To a lot of us these numbers wont mean anything, so below is a chart comparing the ecojet to more familiar elements. (Note that CO2 emissions is in grams per person per kilometre)
9
Conclusion The ecoJet is a new project from easyJet to design a plane to improve the harmful emissions produced from the aviation industry. How easyJet has performed in the past in helping to lower harmful emissions formed from their planes How the ecoJet will improve the current state. How it will be different from previous models. Is it possible to counteract the increase in demand to fly? Comparison of performance when compared to other plane and motor car models.
