Socialization. a) the rejection of the concept of western history as 'progress' which was there in the sociologist of both functionalism and Marx b) the rejection of 'the grand narrative'...which is replaced by a more dispersed and discontinuous set of narratives this means the shift from structuralism (in both Marx and his concept of the structural base affecting the cultural superstructure- and functionalism) to post structuralism(especially adopting Foucault's concept of power as a much more dispersed set of discourses)
3
Socialization.. c) the rejection of the concept of science and rationalism as leading to 'truth' about the social world..replaced by the model of sociology as always open to both falsification and subjectively based biases in the paradigms that are chosen.

….. d) greater emphasis on the expertise of the people in the research studies.... they are 'subjects' not 'objects' of the research/they are the ones with the expertise and knowledge of their situation/so it's always necessary to either use Standpoint Theory as a form of research or at the least to complement the quantitatively based forms of research (in which people are still 'statistics' )with more qualitatively based research from the the 'Standpoint' approach.
