7 Planners Filled out daily (in the binder) Assignments, test dates, parent information Expectation: –Brought home Monday-Thursday –Parent’s initials nightly after checking over work (please do NOT sign if not completed ) –- please correct homework with child- write me a quick note if work was too difficult

8 Student Homework County says no more than 30 minutes Monday-Thursday –Word Study (2x/week) –Reading (15-20 min. per night/ Reading Log) –Math (Reflex 2x/week, Dreambox 2x/week) –Content (occasionally) –Projects (very few) –Study for tests (Your child needs your help to study!)

9 Grading and the 3 rd Grade Report Card A= EXCELLENT, Self-directed, HIGH level of proficiency –Consistent –Able to extend ABOVE 3 rd Grade Standards

28 Additional Information Nutritional Snacks-please aim for healthy--no candy, no peanut products. No food treats for birthdays Students must be in classroom by 7:50 (7:30 beneficial to your child) Absences –Contact the office by phone or email for early dismissal and absences –Sickness (will send homework upon request) –Vacations- no assignments prior to the trip. All assignments that can be made up upon return will either be sent home or completed in class Vacations will NOT be considered for excused absences this year, even if notification is sent in prior to the vacation. EARLY dismissal or change in dismissal-ALWAYS contact the front office!

30 A Year Of Independence In 3 rd grade, we encourage the students to put their homework in their bags themselves, ask you to sign their planner, and say good bye at the front door after the 1 st week of school unless you need to carry in large items.

31 Together we can support them in 3 rd grade and work towards greater independence in 4 th grade!
