2 What is Rhyme Scheme?  Rhyme Scheme is… the pattern of rhyming words found at the end of each line of a poem or a song.

3  First, go through and read the poem paying close attention to the end of each line of the poem.  Then, go through and label each word at the end of each line in the poem with a letter of the alphabet giving words that rhyme throughout the poem the same letter.  Example: How do you find rhyme scheme in a poem or song? The rhyme scheme of this poem is: ABAB The people along the sand A All turn and look one way. B They turn their back on the land. A They look at the sea all day. B

4 Let’s Practice! Figure out the rhyme scheme for the song “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” Twinkle, twinkle, little star How I wonder what you are. Up above the world so high, Like a diamond in the sky. Twinkle, twinkle little star How I wonder what you are.

5 The rhyme scheme for the first stanza is: Twinkle, twinkle, little star--A How I wonder what you are.--A Up above the world so high,--B Like a diamond in the sky.--B Twinkle, twinkle little star--A How I wonder what you are.--A

6 Let’s practice once more! When the blazing sun is gone, When he nothing shines upon, Then you show your little light, Twinkle, twinkle, all the night.
