Origin of Research Day Conference Before DPS program, Seidenberg School of CSIS did little research Pace University was, and still is, primarily a teaching institution No associated engineering school Hard science departments, such as mathematics and physics, do little research and basically service the other departments With doctoral programs (DPS and now Computer Science PhD) Research oriented faculty hired and students conducted research History of CSIS research platforms 2001: Dr. Tappert began using real-world masters-level projects, in part to support doctoral research 2001: Six Pace CSIS papers in MASPLAS 2001 at IBM ResearchMASPLAS 2001 Pace University CSIS offered to host the conference the following year (MASPLAS = Mid-Atlantic Student Workshop on Programming Languages and Systems) 2002: Pace CSIS hosted MASPLAS 2002 at Pace Grad CenterMASPLAS 2002 2003: First Pace CSIS Research Day Conference Started our own conference to avoid travel to attend MASPLAS at other universities 2016 Research Day
