5 Additional Assessment Issues All students must take all the tests, whether they take the course or not. Students will have to take the associated courses in order to be successful. What kind of staffing changes would be necessary to provide the classes that would be necessary to accommodate the additional course requirements?

6 Smithville High School Current number of sections: 1 Physics 4 Chemistry Number of sections required for all students to attend these classes: 8 Physics 8 Chemistry What impact will this have on other class offerings and vocational education programs?

7 Additional Issues School districts are required to report: “The percent of students who successfully progress from 9 th grade through high school graduation within five years and earn associate’s degree within 3 years or a bachelor’s degree within 6 years.” ◦ No mention of students entering careers ◦ No mention of students entering the military ◦ Why are schools responsible for factors beyond their control such as a student’s ability to pay for college?

8 Additional issues Who is going to pay for the tests? What are the state standards for all of these tests and who will set them? How are we going to administer all these tests online with the internet and computer resources available? Where is career readiness in this plan? How is vocational education impacted?
