Available to qualifying graduates for up to two semesters of full-time or part- time tuition.  Military – Check outside the Cafeteria on Wednesdays! See the counseling office for a full schedule of when your favorite branch will be available. Think outside the box

5 College Planning Guide - Fall  Prepare a college comparison checklist with your personal college criteria.  Apply to more than one school; you should have at least three schools— 1.Your dream school 2.Your reality school 3.Your back-up plan school  Create master list or calendar that includes: 1.Tests you’ll take; including fees and deadlines 2.College Application deadlines 3.Scholarship Deadlines  Complete FAFSA – October 1 st  See your counselor about fee waivers if you participate in Free/Reduced lunch

6  Write first drafts and ask teachers to read them before submitting.  Oklahoma’s Promise students – check in with your counselor!  Complete at least one college application by Thanksgiving.  Applying to OU? You must have your counselor added with required materials BEFORE Thanksgiving Break!  Take a college visit  START Scholarship searches!  Take the SAT and/or ACT  Check in – It’s YOUR responsibility!! 7 Four College Visits for Senior Year  You schedule your visit with the University’s admissions office  Make sure to bring back a letter from the college that you visit to confirm that your visit for the Attendance Office.

10  Early Action - An accelerated college application process in which students typically must complete their applications in November. In most cases, students will then receive a decision from the college before the new year.  Early Decision – Similar to Early Action but Early Decision is BINDING. You must attend that University or lose a sizable enrollment deposit  Early Opportunity – Many colleges have early scholarship deadlines that they encourage students to meet to receive scholarship, financial aide and admission decisions during the fall semester. 12  Pick up a questionnaire in the counseling office and return (TYPED) with a resume.  Consider asking a teacher or other faculty member with whom you have a close relationship.  Allow a minimum of 10 school days for recommendation letters!  DO NOT….I repeat DO NOT expect a letter the same day you drop off your resume and questionnaire!!  PLAN AHEAD! Letter of Recommendation
