Induction Requirements This induction is to be completed by all: Visitors Local workers, Sub-contractors, and Casually employed workers Working on or near helicopter landing sites

Helicopter Safety HAZARDS Turning rotor blades (limited height) Tail rotor Ignition sources (fires/explosions) Down draft (flying sand/stones/debris) Crashes Mechanical failure Adverse weather Birds, etc.

Helicopter Safety General Rules around Helipad Unauthorised personnel to stay clear of area Never run in proximity of helicopter – always walk Always approach helicopter from the front when rotors are turning (Keep posture low) Make sure the pilot see you before approaching Carry long items in a horizontal position Do not wear loose clothes/scarfs Hold on to paperwork/light equipment Do not smoke in or within 30 meters from the helicopter

Helicopter Safety When entering/exiting the helicopter, do not use pilot’s harness for support When using co-pilot seat, do NOT touch any controls/instruments Adhere to all instructions from pilot/crew Pay attention to pilot briefing (safety belts, doors, headsets, etc.) NEVER throw anything out of helicopter Hold on to loose items when flying with open doors/windows Only disembark when blades have stopped or when instructed and assisted by crew.

Helicopter Safety Slopes / unprepared landing area When dropped – sit down after exiting until helicopter has left (walking up-slope away from helicopter is dangerous) When collected – sit together in designated position (pilot will land next to you)

Stay clear of pad during landing / take off Enter/exit through gate
