Ash Wednesday - in the Christian calendar it is the first day of Lent.

It is a moveable fast, falling on a different date each year because it is dependent on the date of Easter It can occur as early as the 4th of February (5th of February on leap years) or as late as the 10th of March.

The tradition of sprinkling ashes as a sign of penance, appeared in the eighth century. In the eleventh century, Pope Urban II made him the current practice throughout the Church

Ash - the solid residue after combustion of organic matter such as solid or liquid, or mass of living organisms. The ash is a product of the secondary, obtained by high temperature in the minerals contained in the material

Lent - a time of penance, preparing for the survival of the most important for Christians, Easter. It covers the period starting on Ash Wednesday Mass of the Lord's Supper on Holy Thursday. Traditionally, Lent is sometimes referred to as forty.

Post a strict - valid throughout the Catholic Church on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday. It involves abstaining from eating meat and cutting food. Applies to all adults to complete 60 years of age.

Abstinence from meat - is to refrain from food intake of meat each Friday of the liturgical year with the exception of the liturgical celebrations or days of the highest rank (eg, on the first Friday after Easter, this post does not apply)

Maundy Thursday - Movable feast in the Christian calendar. Falls in Holy Week, 3 days before Easter. Celebrated by different Christian denominations to commemorate the establishment of the sacraments: the priesthood and the Eucharist.

Good Friday - the second day of the Easter Triduum, commemorating the death of Jesus Christ on the cross.

Good Friday is one of the two days a year (this is also on Holy Saturday), in which the Catholic Church does not exercise the victims of the mass.On this day, the post closes.

Good Friday Liturgy (Liturgy of Good Friday) commemorates the passion and death of Jesus Christ killed on the cross. Before his death, he was whipped, forced to carry the cross, crucified. Priests celebrate the Liturgy in the red chasubles.

Holy Saturday - Christian feast, the penultimate day of Holy Week, preceding the feast of the Resurrection. Part of the Easter Triduum. Celebrated by Christians of both traditions, east and west.

From the early morning hours Catholics adore the Blessed Sacrament in a prepared for this purpose something called the Chapel of the Tomb of the Lord. This is a time of mourning for the crucified Jesus Christ. It is also an opportunity to benefit from the Sacrament of Penance.Traditionally on this day we have the Easter food blessed in churches.

Easter, Passover, Easter Sunday, Resurrection of the Lord - the oldest and most important Christian holiday commemorating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Weeks preceding it, which is the most important time of remembrance for the Christian faith of events is called the Holy Week.
