Habit #2 Beginning with the end in mind
2
Journal- Write a one paragraph response answering the questions below. Why was it easier for student A to put the puzzle together? Think of the puzzle pieces as the pieces of your life. Do you have a clear end in mind? Do you have a vision or a glimpse of what your future will look like? How can having a vision, or end goal, help you put the pieces together in your life puzzle?
3
Beginning with the end in mind It’s like creating an outline before you write an essay, following a recipe to bake a cake, or drawing up a blue print before you build a house Having an end goal in mind helps you navigate and map out a plan to get there and make your vision a reality.
4
Go back to your vision statement and read it to a partner
5
Critical Crossroads that may impact that vision –How would each impact your vision?? Death of a loved one family financial issues Not enough credits to graduate jail time DUI STD Change your mind about college move to a different State Injury from a sport Car accident- Injury and bills Drug addiction Teen Pregnancy Illness/ Disease Joined a gang
6
At these crossroads… You have to decide whether you will be Proactive or Reactive (Habit #1!!!) If you are proactive at these crossroads then it will be easier to get to the end vision that you want.
7
Mission Statement What is it? How is it different than a vision? A mission statement is a motto that states what your life is about; your reason for living, and overall existence. Following and staying true to this mission will lead you to your vision. Whereas your vision is what the successful future you looks like, feels like, and acts like.
