A Math Teachers’ Circle is a professional development community of mathematics teachers and professors who meet regularly to work on rich mathematical problems. The goals are to encourage teachers as mathematicians, connect mathematics professors with K-12 education, and build a community of mathematics professionals committed to fostering a love and understanding of mathematics among all students.

What did you learn about problem solving? What did you learn about teaching problem solving? What would you do differently?

Independently read the assigned standard then: 1. Work with your group to create a concise representation of this standard on a large white PostIt paper. 2. Work with your group to explain how this standard was exhibited (or not) by us as we engaged in the tasks this morning and in the Blizzard problem at our first meeting. Concisely write these on your large PostIts.

After you have created a PostIt describing the standard work together to create: 1. Role play a possible scenario of how the SMP would look in the classroom. Your group will decided on the context, the mathematics task, manipulatives, etc. 2. Audience – When others are doing their role play identify specific moments when you see the standard exhibited.
