1
Metastases to the breast
2
49-year-old woman Palpable lump in the left breast
3
Dense breasts. No lesions were seen.
4
The palpable lesion was shown on US as an irregular ill delimited mass. A primary breast tumour was suspected. However, the biopsy revealed a metastatic squamous carcinoma, probably from the lung
5
The PET scan showed multiple metastasis, including the breast (arrow). Primary lung carcinoma (curved arrow).
6
In the next slides we show several cases of metastases to the breast from extramammary malignancies
7
Multiple round masses showing some of them well-delimited margins. Other masses have obscured or indistict margins. Pathology: multiple metastases from unknown origin.
8
Irregular ill-delimited mass. The lesion resembles a primary breast cancer, but the needle core biopsy was a metastasis from adenocarcinoma of the lung.
9
Gastric adenocarcinoma. Metastasis to the breast showing as an asymmetric density (arrow).
10
Well delimited oval mass on mammography. Non Hodgkin lymphoma.
11
Liposarcoma
