1 The theory of evolution today – modern synthesis ALLELE GENE FITNESS GENOTYPE PHENOTYPE MUTATION CHROMOSOMES TAXON VARIATIONS MACROEVOLUTION MICROEVOLUTION INHERITANCE POPULATION NATURAL SELECTION Genetic variation of natural population is produced randomly by mutation and recombination (crossing over of homologous chromosomes during meiosis). The development consists mainly of changes in the frequency of alleles between one generation and another as a result of genetic drift, gene flow and natural selection. Speciation occurs gradually when populations are isolated from the reproductive point of view, such as the formation of geographical barriers

2 I did many experiments to support my theories, because I wanted people to take me seriously. I studied various groups of animals and plants, even limpets, pigeons and worms. I also studied the plants of particular interest to the fact that some plants typical of a region of the world breed in distant places across the world. I believed that this could happen because their seeds were transported by birds and sea currents. What a pity that I’m dead, I want to be alive in order to work with you and with all of your modern tools! Live from Paradise I ‘ll listen to you, tell me young man all you know about modern synthesis! Dear Darwin, we modern scientists have introduced new scientific techniques. Nowadays you could hear about molecular biology and genetic. Don’t be afraid, even if these words sound big, at the end everything is born also thanks to your innovative scientific ideas that have revolutionized the foundations of science! So thank you very much !!

3 Microevolution is the occurrence of changes in allele frequencies in a Mendelian population. These changes may be caused b y several processes: mutation natural selection, gene flow, genetic drift. Microevolution is opposed to macroevolution, which involves the formatio n of new species or taxa. Punctuated equilibrium is a model of macroevolution first detailed in 1972 by Niles Eldredge and Stephen J. Gould. The punctuated equilibrium model essentially asserts that most of geological history shows periods of little evolutionary change, followed by short periods of time of rapid evolutionary change. Evolutionary developmental biology is a field of biology that compares the developmental processes of different organisms to determine the ancestral relationship between them, and to discover how developmental processes evolved. In biology, coevolution is the change of a biological object triggered by the change of a related object Hello everyone, I am Professor Genius and today I will explain the meaning of some key words about the theory of evolution today!

4 Speciation is the evolutionary process by which new biological species arise. There are four geographic modes of speciation in nature, based on the extent to which speciating populations are geographically isolated from one another: allopatric, peripatric, parapatric, and sympatric. Speciation may also be induced artificially, through animal husbandry or laboratory experiments. The formation of two or more species often requires geographical isolation of subpopulations of the species. Only then can natural selection or perhaps genetic drift produce distinctive gene pools.  Ecological opportunity no predators, few, if any, competitors.  Geographical Isolation (allopatry)  Evolutionary Change in isolation, changes in the gene pool can occur through some combination of natural selection, genetic drift or founder effect Sure my dear !
