Theater Arts 8 th Grade PANTOMIME LESSON OBJECTIVE: To be able to act out a scene using only FACIAL EXPRESSIONS and BODILY ACTIONS.

Example of a facial expression I show my brother a dress I really like. He looks at it with a “yuck” expression. He doesn’t have to say anything for me to know that he doesn’t like it.

Example of a bodily action or gesture A hand wave – this could say “hello” or “goodbye”

Definition of Pantomime To act out a scene WITHOUT WORDS, using only facial expression and gestures to communicate. Why is it important to learn how to pantomime? It teaches us how to communicate using nonverbal language.

TODAY’S ACTIVITY Students will pantomime scenarios given to them by the teacher.

Crack an egg into a bowl and beat the egg.
