History Requirements Define your Amendment Indicate in a Paragraph(s) that you understand your amendment This paragraph should give evidence and indicate research along with a definition of the amendment You can use this paragraph in both the English Packet 2 nd box on pg. 24 and also Paragraph 2 and History I requirement on the paragraph to define your Amendment.

Paul McCrone Mr. McCrone US History Period 1 28 March 2015 Definition of the 9th Amendment In 1791, the 9 th amendment was created. The definition of the 9th amendment is very complicated. It states…” The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people.” When the Bill of Rights was first proposed, the major argument against it was that by specifying some rights that the government was not free to violate, there would be the implication that the government was free to violate any rights not specifically protected in the Constitution. The Ninth Amendment was written to address this concern. This amendment deals with and protects the future rights of Americans. This amendment basically says that even if a right is not specifically listed in the constitution, this does not mean that right does not exist. An Example of this is the presumption of innocence, or the term “innocent until proven guilty.”

Requirements for Definition of Amendment Paragraph This paragraph needs to be in MLA format It should include the exact wording of the Amendment It should indicate when and why the Amendment was created It should give at least one example of the amendment The paragraph should show research was done It should be neat- strongly recommend it is typed- you can use your computer Lab time to work on this

Why the Amendment is Significant Paragraph Write a paragraph(s) concerning …Why your amendment is significant! You should give at least three examples – which can be court cases, rights the amendment provides,and what would the United States be like without this amendment. An attempt to persuade or convince the reader on how important your amendment is, should be made! Do not use ” I”- NO first Person!!!
