What kinds of campaigns have W- WEST been involved in? How low can you go – Campaign raising awareness of the arguments for under the counter sales of tobacco products The Plain Truth – Campaign for all tobacco products to be sold in plain packaging Campaigns can be about anything at all, not just tobacco and smoking. The same types of campaign activities can be applied to lots of different topics.

The Florida Truth Campaign A good example of a tobacco campaigning group is the Florida Truth Campaign. Here are some of the adverts they have had shown on national TV in America.

Over to you!! Now, split into 3 groups and think about what kind of campaign you would organise. Group 1 – Come up with a campaign to get cheaper bus fares for young people Group 2 – Come up with a campaign to raise awareness of recycling Group 3 – Come up with a campaign to reduce underage drinking You now have 10 minutes to come up with your campaign and then feed back to the rest of the groups!

Things to think about…. Where would you hold your campaign? What would you do? How and where would you advertise it?
