While students are responsible for creating and implementing solutions, Deloitte consultants provide guidance to the students on performing research and completing deliverables A high-level overview of activities includes: Team and community selection Project scoping and solution creation Implementation and follow-up Performance feedback SCIO Overview SCIO provides a training ground for future business professionals and motivates them to practice social responsibility Student Analysts Deloitte Mentors Community Leaders Project Scope, Design and Implementation resulting in an economically sustained business solution SCIO has three main goals that it achieves through consulting solutions: To increase revenues in impoverished communities through business consulting To educate and empower students To increase awareness of social responsibility SCIO’s Vision SCIO’s Strategy

- 4 - SCIO-AMA_v6.ppt Business and Student Selection Businesses are selected based on: The viable impact students can have on the business The impact that businesses will have on the community The business’s ability to sustain improvements after the consultation The business’s desire for help from students Students must submit applications to SCIO and attend interviews. SCIO board members identify and select students based on their: Desire to participate in the program Previous experience in or knowledge of particular deliverables necessary for the project Ability to work well with a team Communications skills Many students want to participate in programs like SCIO. Based on an anonymous survey of the 77 students who applied for SCIO, the top reasons that students want to participate are: Reasons for Student Participation Business SelectionStudent Selection

- 5 - SCIO-AMA_v6.ppt Project Life Cycle – Sun Saan Project Team and Community Selection Project Scoping and Solution Creation Implementation and Follow-up Performance Feedback SCIO Board and Deloitte Mentors SCIO Board, Deloitte Mentors and Students Students and Community Leaders SCIO Board, Deloitte Mentors and Students Eight UT students were selected Katta Patthar (KP) in Uttaranchal, India, was selected as the target community Key deliverables were identified –Market Sizing –Marketing –Financial Planning –Pricing SCIO board traveled to KP to assess the business challenge and identify growth areas At the beginning of each deliverable stage, Deloitte mentors made a presentation on the respective business concepts, methodologies and lessons learned –Students developed solutions based on lessons learned from Deloitte mentors Students created solutions –Deloitte mentors provided guidance throughout the solution development phase Students traveled to KP for solutions implementation –Students gathered some information on-site Students presented solutions to community Students supported the community during implementation Students presented findings to Deloitte mentors/leadership and SCIO board –Feedback provided

- 7 - SCIO-AMA_v6.ppt Go-live! UT SCIO students worked to turn a Maharaja’s palace in Katta Patthar, India, into a traveler’s lodge. The lodge is expected to help increase tourism in the area thereby supporting the local economy and providing additional sources of employment. The students have: Increased employment opportunities by generating three jobs in the area Projected annual earnings estimates: 9 Lakh Rupees (US$18,585) Promised portion of the profit to be donated to the local school and hospital Priced room rates in peak season to $10/night Lodge in Katta Patthar (KP) Sun Saan LodgeMarketing Flier

- 8 - SCIO-AMA_v6.ppt Reflection The success of SCIO’s KP project can be largely attributed to three factors: Every member of the group had something to gain, which ensured reliable and enthusiastic participation from all involved: –Community members / leaders received advice to improve the local business –Students learned how to work as a consultant and expanded their professional network –Deloitte furthered its commitment to providing important community services Each member played a large role in the success of the project: –Members were encouraged to continue to enthusiastically participate in solutions development by owning large portions of each deliverable –Students understood all aspects of the solution because of the large part they all played in developing the solution Deloitte’s professional involvement improved the quality of work: –Deloitte leveraged its professional skills to assist, giving practitioners the opportunity to use their unique skills while doing good for the community, a key element of Deloitte’s community involvement approach –Solutions were based on reliable research and strong analytical methods –Students, in turn, learned how to produce professional deliverables Key Success Factors Student enthusiasm coupled with Deloitte’s mentorship led to a successful consulting project.
