34
Did You Know Flyer This flyer is created by the Family Engagement Team and distributed at all events to share with families. Flyer info varies & includes: - data - school goals - helpful hints - general information - attendance rate
35
This is all great stuff and we do some of these things at our school too. Can you tell us what we can do for the families that need more than this?
36
Wraparound Support for Families Purpose: to capture critical information about people who are important to the child and family that can be relied on to help Wraparound has helped us embrace student struggles and empower families that need support.
37
Getting Started FAMILY VOICE AND FAMILY CHOICE Family must approve who is on the team Family decides what to share with the team Family must approve time and location of meetings
38
First Meeting A Tier III trained team meets with a family A visual is created on chart paper that includes the child’s: -story -strengths -barriers -needs Together, the team prioritizes needs and determines who will come to the next meeting. STORY STRENGTHS NEEDSBARRIERS Vision
39
Story / Strengths StoryStrengths Who is in your family? Who are the people in your life that are closest to you? Who are the people you have good relationships with? What is your child good at? What does your child enjoy doing? When does your child have success? What are your strengths as a family?
40
Focus on Needs vs Services Expressed needTurned into a service Someone to talk to Good friends Letting off steam Attention Therapist/counselor Positive peer group Behavior management plan Greeter/ mentor IMPORTANT: Needs are the driving forces contributing to the ongoing barrier behaviors and family disruptions.
41
Barriers What barrier is the most pressing? What is the one thing that we could address to have the most impact? What will allow you to sleep at night? What driving forces in your child’s life are influencing this? What needs to change for us to “get there?”
42
Moving Forward & Next Steps Create an action plan Everyone on the team or at the table walks away from the meeting with a job Follow up weekly and meet monthly or more if needed ***Remember … it is about the child and family
43
