Architectural Model DIRECTIONS: TAP IN Get these supplies. DRILL: 1.Turn in lab fees, signed note. Buy sketchbooks. 2.Read iPad contract and sign it. Objective: You will utilize measuring and creativity in order to engage space with an architectural sculpture. SUPPLIES: 1.A FEW MANILLA FOLDERS. 2.RULER 3.PENCIL 4.YOUR LANDSCAPE AND BUILDINGS FROM LAST CLASS 5.SCISSORS

Today’s sculpture Architectural Model 1.Build landscape 2.(Learn about class) 3.Build 5 cubes, rectangular prisms 4.Connect them to creatively engage space Objective: You will utilize measuring and creativity in order to engage space with an architectural sculpture.

Goal for forms: Look at the directions. Use a ruler. Build 5 square forms- cubes, rectangular prisms Tape them together to build the form. Keep them separate though Rearrange them in several new arrangements. Objective: You will utilize measuring and creativity in order to engage space with an architectural sculpture.

Frank Gehry Once you finish your 5 forms, you may add embellishments and creative forms that are not square. Think about using the artwork side of the folders.

Clean Up We will photograph them and post on Edmodo. Scraps go back in box or in trash. Sculptures go on shelf in back or in cabinet. Per 3- bottom 2 shelves Per4- top 2 shelves Stay in seats until bell.

Goals of the Class: We will: Engage 3D space. Create 3D sculptures. Learn clay techniques and procedures. Enjoy making art. Learn about artists. Utilize planning and brainstorming to plan your sculptures. Access Edmodo to use as a learning tool and critique space.

Classroom Procedure/ Daily Routine 1.Come in on time 2.Get your sketchbook and any supplies to create your drill page. (pencil) 3.Get started in the first 3 minutes. Objective and drill. (5 points of classwork- extra too) 4.Teacher instruction- Slides of visual inspiration and new knowledge. 5.Learn techniques DEMO 6.Studio art time to be creating. 7.Clean up 8.Closure- One question with 3 answers or 3 questions.

ART Agreement I will: 1.Be on time 2.Listen without interrupting 3.Maintain control of my behavior- use appropriate language. 4.Respect others 5.Respect supplies and room 6.Follow directions. 7.Try my best to be creative. 8.Have fun and smile.

Consequences: 3 rd lateness- detention – 30 min- 10 min per late day. 4 th lateness- call home Disrespect- meeting with student/ call home/ refer to dept chair and office. Not doing classwork- low grade, meeting with student, call home. After 3 unexcused absences- call home.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: -Please listen during announcements without talking. (Use phones now) -Be respectful of anchors. Do not make fun of them. -(If you have to clean up, do it quietly.) -Stay in seats until the bell.

Absences Bring in an excuse note! You will receive zeros on all classwork that you miss. Check Edmodo and the website to make up work. Stay after school to make up work… Bring in an excuse note!

Phones and Headphones Phones should not be out during the lesson. You may use it to look at images. Headphones are fine when you are doing classwork – no lesson, although not while I am teaching.

Getting your iPad: Miss Gauger will tell you your number. Sometimes another class may need iPads, so you will need to share. You receive a # that are assigned for the year. We will start together. iPad # NameChecked by Miss Gauger at end of class. 1 2 3 4 5

Returning iPads 1. Place them in their spot. 2. Each ipad has a number. Each spot has a number 3. Place them in with silver sharpie number facing out and at the bottom. 4. Make sure the power plug is facing out. 5. Do not plug it in please.

Go to Edmodo Log on or Create an account. Write down: User name-____________________ Password-_____________________ Create an account- Student Use Code cqhzsf Look at posts while you wait. Edmodo is an App for smartphones.

Load the Backpack with pics: Find backpack icon. Click Add to backpack/ + sign Use camera.

PhotographING SCULPTURE TIPS: PLACE SOMETHING BLACK OR WHITE BEHIND IT. TAKE SEVERAL PHOTOGRAPHS FROM DIFFERENT VIEW TRY TO HAVE DRAMATIC LIGHTING THAT CREATES A SHADOW.

Post on Edmodo (so everyone can see it) 1.Click on Posts on left side of screen. 2.Click the plus sign on right side of screen. 3.Select a recipient. 4.Write something. 5.Attach photo from backpack or camera. 6.Attach more photos if necessary. 7.Press “POST”.

Turn in an Assignment: (to get it graded) (Click on notifications on right corner.) *Scroll down to find the assignment. Click on the assignment. Click “TURN IN”. When you are turning in an assignment, attach each photo with it. Miss Gauger will grade from the photographs. 4

Directions for landscape: Get a large piece of cardboard. Get 7 or more irregular shapes. Create a mountain and valley or two mountains and valley. Stack them largest to smallest. Like a topographical map. Glue them to each other. Think about spaces to place the cubed pieces you build. Objective: You will utilize measuring and creativity in order to engage space with an architectural sculpture.
