Trócaire is the overseas development agency of the Catholic Church in Ireland. Trócaire was set up in 1973 by the Bishops of Ireland to express the concern of the Irish Catholic Church for the suffering of the world’s poorest people. Today Trócaire works in countries across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East on issues including livelihoods, human rights, gender equality, HIV, climate change and emergency relief. Communication methods J.B Barry No dedicated staff member for managing communications. Social media is used at a low level. E-mails, Facebook and twitter is the only form of communication they use. Trocaire All members of staff are trained to learn the companies communication policies. Social media is used at a very high level. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and flicker is used by Trocaire.

My findings J.B Barry They do not measure media hits. Communications are always branded with the firms logo. Use of graphics is crucial to the firm when communicating. They use external help for communication. Trocaire They update their website on a weekly basis. No external help for commination's is used. Use press coverage a lot. They have five year plans in place to ensure the company is moving in the right direction at all times.

SWOT Analysis J.B Barry Strengths- all modes of communication are clear and professional. Weakness-rely too much on a single individual, the business development manager. Opportunities-use social media more effectively in recruiting. Threats- not optimizing the market because communications is not at highest level. Trocaire Strengths- well resourced communications team. Weakness- fundraising and marketing teams need to be more aligned. Opportunities-new digital options coming out allowing Trocaire to reach a bigger audience. Threats- lack of predictability, natural disasters can come about at any time.

Trocaire are very update on all modes of communication where as J.B Barry are not. Trocaire utilize all modes of communication where J.B Barry only use a few. J.B Barry could potentially attract new clients if they improved there communication system. Trocaire rely on their communications for fundraising. My opinion of the communication systems

Communication effort has to be aligned to the size of the task. Trocaire’s task is much bigger than J.B Barry’s so they need more resources. Messages must be tailored to the audiences. Having plans and goals helps measure performance. Materials need to be refreshed often. Get feed back. State your message as simply as possible. Thank you for listening have a good day! Conclusion
