1 WORLD LITERATURE JOURNALS

2 EACH DAY, UNLESS THERE IS A TEST OR A SPECIFIC EVENT IN CLASS THAT PREVENTS US FROM DOING SO (LIKE MRS. TUCKER FORGETTING), THERE WILL BE A JOURNAL PROMPT OF SOME SORT ON THE BOARD. YOU NEED TO KEEP UP WITH EACH ENTRY (EITHER IN A SPIRAL NOTEBOOK, A WRITERS NOTEBOOK, OR ON LOOSE LEAF PAPER IN YOUR NOTEBOOK). YOU WILL NEED TO LABEL THEM ACCORDINGLY (I SHOULD HAVE THEM LABELED FOR YOU). EVERY 10 JOURNALS, I WILL DO A JOURNAL CHECK FOR A FORMATIVE GRADE. THERE WILL ALSO BE TIMES WHERE YOU WILL BE ASKED TO GO BACK AND LOOK AT A SPECIFIC JOURNAL AND EDIT/REVISE IT FOR A SUMMATIVE WRITING GRADE.

3 ENTRY #1: THE CHILDREN AND THE MOUNTAIN: LOOK AT THE IMAGE AND WRITE A CREATIVE STORY ABOUT ONE OF THE INDIVIDUALS THAT YOU SEE. FORMAT DOES NOT MATTER. IT CAN BE IN THE FORM OF A LETTER, A SHORT STORY, A JOURNAL/DIARY ENTRY, ETC. JUST BECOME ONE OF THE INDIVIDUALS YOU SEE IN THE PHOTO AND TELL ME ABOUT THIS MOMENT. BE CREATIVE.

IF WE CHANGED THE WORD ANTIDOTE TO GIFT, WHAT EFFECT WOULD IT HAVE ON THE MEANING OF THE SENTENCE? APPLY: BRAINSTORM WITH A PARTNER AND DEVELOP A LIST OF MEDICAL TERMS; THEN WRITE A SENTENCE USING A MEDICAL TERM TO CHARACTERIZE ART. EXPLAIN TO THE CLASS THE EFFECT THIS TERM HAS ON THE MEANING OF THE SENTENCE.
