Warm up: Find the missing lengths using the scale 1/4inch = 2 feet 1.If the actual length is 16 feet find the drawing length. 2.If the drawing length is 1.25 inches, find the actual length. 3.If the actual length is 20 feet, find the drawing length. 4.If the drawing length is 3 inches, find the actual length.
2
Create a foldable: 1.Fold your paper like a hotdog 2.You will need six sections 3.Cut each flap of each section
3
Label the first section: Percent to fraction
4
Open the Percent to fraction flap A percent is a ratio comparing a number to 100. Place the percent over 100 and simplify! Examples: 45%= 45/100 = 9/20 120%= 120/100 = 1 1/5 80%= 80/100= 4/5
5
Label the second section: Percent to fraction Fraction to percent
6
Open the Fraction to percent flap 1.If the denominator is already 100, then use the top part of the fraction and add a % sign. 2.The denominator is not equal to 100, then divide the numerator by the denominator and multiply by 100. Add a percent sign. 1.80/100 = 80% 45/100 = 45% 33/100= 33% 2. 7/8= 7÷8= 0.875 0.875 x 100= 87.5 87.5% 9/4= 9÷4= 2.25 2.25 x 100= 225 225%
7
Label the second section: Percent to fraction Fraction to percent Percent to decimal
8
Open the Percent to decimal flap: Move the decimal to the left two times and remove the % sign. This is the same as Dividing by 100. 28%= 0.28 Because 28÷ 100 = 0.28 375%= 3.75 Because 375 ÷ 100= 3.75
9
Label the second section: Percent to fraction Fraction to percent Percent to decimal Decimal to Percent
10
Open the Decimal to Percent flap Move the decimal to the right two places and add a % sign This is the same as multiplying by 100 and adding a percent sign. 0.35 = 35% Because 0.35 x 100= 35% 0.09 = 9% Because 0.09 x 100= 9% 0.007=.7% Because 0.007 x 100 = 0.7%
11
Label the second section: Percent to fraction Fraction to percent Percent to decimal Decimal to Percent Fraction to decimal
12
Open the Fraction to decimal Flap Divide the numerator by the denominator 3/5= 3÷5 = 0.6 10/11= 10÷11= 0.9090… 1/5= 1÷5= 0.20
13
Label the second section: Percent to fraction Fraction to percent Percent to decimal Decimal to Percent Fraction to decimal Decimal to fraction
14
To change a decimal to a fraction: State the decimal correctly and reduce. 0.35 = 35 hundrenths 35/100 = 7/20 0.2= 2 tenths 2/10 = 1/5
15
Use your foldable to try the following Change the percent to a fraction: 12% 12/100 3/25 5% 5/100 1/20
16
Change the percent to a fraction: 17% 17/100 72% 72/100 18/25
17
Change each decimal to a percent: 0.3 30% 0.21 21% 0.09 9%
18
Change each fraction to a percent 7/9.778 77.8% 5/7.714 71.4%
19
Change each fraction to a percent 4 ¾ 4.75 475% 3/8 0.375 37.5%
