Science Project Proposal Slide Show
Due Tuesday morning (1/20/15) Turn in to Google Classroom, or Share on Google Docs with Mr. Temple , or your slide show to Mr. Temple
2
Slide show should include: Title of Your Project
By: Your name(s)
3
Question: What am I trying to find out with my project?
4
Hypothesis: If I do something then I think something else will happen because of what I already know about this topic.
5
Description of Variables
Manipulated: The thing that you are deliberately changing for your experiment Controlled: The things that you will be keeping the same for all your experimental trials There should be several controlled variables Responding: The thing that you will be measuring at the end of each trial
6
Materials List: Supplies Tools Measuring devices Experimental subjects
Etc.
7
Procedure: Very brief (“draft”) version of your proposed procedure
Four or five steps Your final procedure should be much more detailed
8
Example of a Proposal Slide Show Household bacteria
By Joe Student And Jimmy Sidekick
9
Question: Out of normal household items, which item has the most bacteria on it?
10
Hypothesis: If we test these households items to see which one has the most bacteria, then we think that the kitchen sponge will have the most bacteria because it is used on dishes that people eat off of and is also constantly wet.
11
Materials: petri dishes cotton swab labels zip lock bags agar
a pan to boil water in water
12
Procedure: 1. label each selected item on separate petri dishes
2. Boil water and prepare the agar solution 3. Pour agar solution into the ten petri dishes 4. Create samples by touching selected household items with a cotton swab. 5. Use doorknob cotton swab by briefly touching the petri dish that label on it. Do the same for the other 9 items.
13
Manipulated variable:
Locations swabbed for bacteria Sponge TV remote Door knob Refrigerator handle Money Shoes Computer keyboard Keys Toilet seat
14
Controlled variables Swabs petri dishes Agar Water Zip lock bags
15
Responding Variables Measuring how much bacteria each household item creates to see which one is the worst
