I am 42 years old. I live in rural West Virginia Between my husband and I we have 2 pre-teen daughters, and 1 older daughter. I have a grandson and a granddaughter. I coach cheerleading & softball and support our local youth in any way I can. I want to eventually teach.

I graduated from Clay County High in 1990 I lived in Charlotte, NC from 1996-2007 I moved home to WV so that my young daughter could be near family and grow up in a small community. I have worked in imports/exports, the oil and gas industry, and for Head Start to name a few. I enrolled with Ashford University in 2009 after being laid-off. I have an AA in Business Administration and a BA in English, both from Ashford University.

I have always wanted to teach, and in the middle of my BA in Business I changed my degree course and started taking steps towards eventually getting my teacher certification. I am pursuing a masters degree because here in West Virginia I can be hired to teach with a masters while I pursue my certification. I took this route because doing student teaching meant not being able to work, and well I have bills to pay.

I want to be the teacher I needed when I was in school, I want to be the teacher that my child will need throughout her education, and I want to be a source of knowledge and refuge for any child in need of either. I want to be a teacher that both my students and my parents can trust. I need them to know that I am there for them, that my purpose is the well-being and education of each child I encounter, and most important the parents need to know that I am invested in making sure their child learns and grows within my classroom.
