Write personal recognition notes to individual students. Create “class” money or lottery tickets for individual achievements and award a prize once a week or allow students to purchase rewards. Use progress charts to celebrate completed milestones for projects or units of study. Use the 100% club for the whole class to reward everyone doing something together. Use giant appreciation notes for the whole class.

Importance of EffortEffort Rubric Success is often about hard work and exerting effective effort Working hard on the task Push to continue working even when faced with difficulties View difficulties as opportunities to strengthen understanding
14
Teach the concept of effort; provide examples and non-examples. Explain to your students the relationship between effort and achievement. Effective effort results in better learning. Use of the effort rubric for student self- assessment during projects or units of study. Assess the students using the effort rubric and provide frequent feedback on how you see them exerting effective effort.
