Assessment of student learning is useful for improving educational quality. Teaching and assessment are part of a common process of creating an effective learning environment. Effective assessment must be meaningful to, and manageable for, the practitioner.

Clarification of purpose Feedback process Every 3 years (or on demand) No additional paperwork Does not exempt programs from other assessment tasks Components Peer review of assessment Program assessment plans Consultation Action plan for improving assessment Drafted by DAA Reported to unit Dean

Peer group assignments (3-4 programs) Pre-review – peruse assessment plans Peer Review –(focus on one program/discipline at a time) Program rep provides a brief overview Peers ask clarification questions Rep identifies any specific areas of struggle Peers discuss Complete Assessment Plan Review Feedback Rubric Consensus should be achieved Complete Action Items Suggestion Form Repeat for each program
