6 Schedule and timetables Friday 10:30 Bike Course familiarisation escorted by the police for 1 lap of course from City Hall up to T2 and one full loop of City Loop back to T2 There will be an escort back to T1 Meeting point in Transition 1 at 10:20 11:15 – 12:15 Swim Course familiarisation. All the bikes should be racked in the fenced area and this will be guarded by the LOC

9 Access to the venue This event has two (2) Transition Areas-see next map o Do not cycle or warm-up on the course

12 Check-in procedures # 1 Transition Area 2 | Finish Venue Women – Deposit running shoes outside your box in transition area Men – Deposit running shoes and equipment INSIDE your numbered box in the recovery area. ITU technical Officials will place your shoes and running gear in front of the box All boxes will be placed on the side of the rack closest to the bottom of the hill Coaches may place athletes running shoes in rack position Spare wheels to the Chief Wheel Stop TO at Transition Area 2

13 Check-in procedures #2 Bike Check – before entering Athlete’s Lounge Refer to 5.2 in competition rules Handle bars with clip-ons Wheels (non authorized UCI wheels rule) Spare wheels Bike frame Helmet Saddle position (-5cm≤ Men & -2cm≤ Women) Random 25% Approved exceptions on ITU website http://www.triathlon.org/about/downloads/category/rules Approval for the addition/modification of any equipment to the bike, MUST be obtained from the RACE REFEREE up until 10 minutes from the end of this Athletes’ Briefing Mechanic service available at athletes lounge

14 Check-in procedures # 3 Athletes Lounge Uniform & race gear check (name, country, logos, ITU logo, zippers, race caps) – photos taken of each uniform. Wearing other uniform during the race = DSQ! Body marking check (both arms, both legs) Timing chip distribution Swim cap distribution, Leave bags in the Athletes’ lounge (use gear bag sticker) – your bags will be moved to the Recovery Area by the LOC

15 Check-in procedures # 4 Transition Area 1 Helmet check – Do not leave your helmet FASTENED on the bike in the transition The athlete who does not comply with this rule will receive a time penalty of 15 seconds in TA1.

19 Pre-start procedure Athletes’ Introduction 10 minutes before start – line-up in the Transition Area 1 Jog to the swim platform when you are introduced Select your position and stay behind the line Blocking two positions – DSQ

20 Start procedure Athletes in position: The start can be given any time after the Starter announces ”On your mark” Air horn The race starts Athletes not moving forward at the start will receive a time penalty of 15 seconds in TA1.

21 False start procedure False start Example: Several horn blasts Kayaks in front of you Everyone goes back to her/his spot Valid start but with early starters: If someone starts before the horn and everyone else starts with the horn, the false starter will receive a time penalty of 15 seconds in TA1. (During the time penalty athlete cannot touch any equipment!)

23 Today at 12:30pm Water temperature: 19.7 C Air temperature: 20.0C WBGT 20.0C Condition Relative Humidity 60% Wetsuit swim 2 laps (total distance of 1500m) – anti-clockwise Distance to the first turn buoy 465m Lap 1 - Pass all Four cylindrical yellow buoys on the left shoulder Lap 2 – Pass the 2 triangular buoys on your left shoulder Take wetsuit, cap, goggles to transition into the box Swim behavior will be closely monitored and recorded by water based and broadcast room officials. Moderate

24 Transition area 1 Horizontal bike racks – number, name and country flag All used equipment into your box. Not doing so, a time penalty of 15 seconds on the run Mount line at the end of the TA 1 (GREEN LINE)

25 Bike course 1 section of 4.5km + 9 laps of 4.00km (total distance of 40.5 km) Flat, with a technical part of cobbles after exit from TA2 and a small hill at TA2 and after the Opera House 2 Wheel Stations - for locations see the map: 1 Team Wheel Station (exit of Transition Area 2) 1 Neutral Wheel Station ( 2 Littering Zones marked (same for the run) 20m before and 80m after Lap counter- at the exit of the Transition Area 2 Lapped athletes are taken out of the race 2 First runner / last bike scenarios

29 Caution Caution signal: sharp whistles and or red flags

30 Transition area 2 Individual bike racks – number, name and country flag Exactly same set-up as for Transition 1 All used equipment into your box. Not doing so, a time penalty of 15 seconds on the run. Dismount line at the beginning of TA 2 (REDLINE)

31 Run course 4 laps (total distance of 10km ) Aid stations:  2 per lap (for location see map)  Sealed bottled water  Discard bottles & litter in the Littering Zones (located 20m before to 80m after Aid Stations) Don’t cut short the corners Photo-finish Congestion in finish area - Go to mixed zone / recovery area

33 Run Penalty Box Run penalty box is for infringements in: TA1, Bike and TA2 For example: mount before mount line, dismount after dismount line, equipment outside your box, rack the bike outside your own space, etc. Transitions will be video recorded for infringements Location: Just before the entrance to TA2 Information: White board to show race numbers (Athletes need to read the board) Procedure: 15 second time penalty served on any lap of the run. If you do not stop to take the penalty - DSQ

34 Post race procedures Photo-finish No congestion in finish area: go to mixed zone/recovery area For Top 3 & Series Leaders: 1.TV/Flash Interviews 2.Medal Ceremony 3.Media “Mixed Zone” Dress “up” – with race uniform (or country clothes) coaches assistance needed: Ambush marketing rules apply Race caps/visors are allowed at the podium with maximum 1 sponsor logo with maximum height 4cm & total area 20cm² Prize money will be wire transferred to the athletes.

35 Ambush marketing rule Ambush marketing is defined as: “Deliberately using the opportunity of live television and media photographers to acquire additional exposure for your sponsor product, apparel or brand.” The consequence for this behavior is that the athlete will immediately forfeit their prize money for that event, if any. Please follow the ambush marketing rules

36 Post race procedures Anti-Doping Control Photo ID is needed for every athlete to go for testing Located in the Hotel First Reisen Team Medical Access Only team medical will be allowed to enter the medical tent after ITU Medical Delegate’s permission. Every NF can have 1 team medical accreditation. Team doctors should register with the ITU Medical Delegate. Team Medical Doctors’ Meeting Team Medical Doctors’ meeting after this briefing with Medical Delegate and LOC Doctor.

37 Coaches’ Areas Accreditations will be distributed to those that have been entered through the online system by their NF These Coaches only will have access to: 1.Athletes’ Lounge/Recovery area 2.Beside the Swim start area- Next to Media Area 3.Media Lane on inner field of stadium 4.Grandstand next to Finish Area 1 2

38 Coaches’ RUN ACCESS One coach per NF is allowed to have access on the elite run course for 30 minutes from 18.00 until 18.30 on Saturday Vests are provided to these coaches by Chief Run All the coaches will meet at Transition 2 and start at the same time from the same start point – near dismount line Coaches who require this access, must register with the Run TO following the athletes’ briefing

39 Coaches’ Shuttles 1 x Accredited Coach from each NF will have access to shuttles from Swim venue to the Bottom of the cobbles straight after the swim. If you miss this shuttle, there are no alternative shuttles This will need to be registered for immediately after the briefing The Shuttles from the Finish Area to the Swim Start are at 18.25 and 15.00 1 2

40 Transfer of Athletes Equipment 1.All athletes equipment will be brought back from the athletes lounge and TZ1 to the recovery area after the last athlete finishes the run 1.If you require clothing or alternative nutrition, please leave these with your coach Anyone wishing to use a Go Pro must register this interest with the Race Referee immediately after the briefing, and agree to abide by the conditions applied. This includes the familiarisation and Race 1 2
