Capanivo ® CN 4000 The best in its class!! Capacitive Measurement by UWT
2
Technology: What is capacitance? Capacitance is the ability of a body to store charge in an electric field. Capacitance can be calculated if the geometry of the conductors and the dielectric properties of the insulator between the conductors are known. A - is the area of overlap of the two conductors; ε - is the relative static permittivity = dielectric constant of the material between the conductors (for a vacuum / air, ε = 1); d - is the separation between the conductors. C = ε · A d

Technology: What is capacitive measurement? A general technical explanation of capacitance switches The functionality of the capacitance switch is based on the change of the electric field between “ground” and “active”. The capacitance change between these electrodes is measured. With the material reaching the active zone of the sensor, the capacitance raises thus influences the oscillating amplitude of the RC-oscillator. The sensitivity of the sensor varies enormously according to permittivity, size of the sensor, material and mass. ε groun d activ e shiel d

Build-upActive shield Technology: Capanivo CN4000 with active shield Active shield protects against build-up on the probe and compensates for its effects so that the switch point is always accurate. Active shield creates a second electric field, that prevents direct connection between sensor electrodes. The effect of active shield depends on: the thickness of the build-up on the probe, conductivity of the material, the sensitivity setting.

Functions, options and technical details Sealing grounding ball Aluminium Shaft The grounding ball connects the electronic in a save way with the tank. The grounding ball is sealed with two FKM (Viton) o-ring sealings. No liquid or solid can get into the housing through the grounding ball. O- Ring Grounding ball

Precise, reliable level limit detection, even with varying material attributes Housing made of PA6 plastic or aluminium, IP66 Easy installation due to pre-setting, no calibration needed Active Shield Technology against the material build up and caking on the device (active build up compensation) Automatic earthing with metal silos because of exposed/free standing contact integrated into the thread (no further connection with silo wall necessary) Adjustable delay circuit prevents vibrating switching and allows a hysteresis of the output signal Ingeniously price-performance ratio (CN 4020 with € 151,-) Maintenance free, corrosion resistant and without moving parts (do not use against RN!!!) Full range of extensions available Suitable for use in temperatures ranging from -40 °C and +180 °C Independent of silo wall material (no metal silo needed) 4 sensitivity steps allow fine adjustments Sales arguments / features

It is a spezific constant of the rate of polarizability of a solid or liquid. If this rate is higher, all the more is the capacity of itsself. Generally materials with a higher density also have a higher dielectric constant.

Capanivo 4000 – Service Spareparts: The eletronic board of the CN 4020 is available as a sparepart. If a CN 4030 or CN 4050 is electrical damaged, it is not clear for the customer, if the electronic in the housing or the electronic in the extension is damaged or both.
