Justin Sliney Trader at Rabobank International Justin Sliney worked for 17 years as a trader for Rabobank International. He started as an associate assistant trader for the company, rotating among the bank’s many New York trading desks helping senior traders in evaluating daily risk reports and constructing pricing and risk management Microsoft Excel models. He worked his way up to Managing Director and Co-Head of Global Financial Markets for the Americas.Justin Sliney has long been heavily involved in studying financial technology, or fintech, as an employee of several financial institutions over his career. Sliney got his start at Rabobank, a Dutch firm for which he worked for 17 years. Sliney helped Rabobank and its partners comply with strict new US regulations after the 2008 financial crisis, an event that still affects the financial world and shapes fintech today.

Justin Sliney Veteran Banker Justin SlineyJustin Sliney spent 17 years working for Rabobank International, mostly as a trader. He worked his way up from assistant trader to Managing Director during his career there before he left in 2013. He was mostly focused on money market and foreign exchange trading at first, but eventually he was tasked with running Rabobank’s derivatives trading book in the United States and building the bank’s trading capabilities in Latin America. Justin Sliney, an employee at a large Japanese financial institution, keeps a close eye on the shifting financial markets as a result of new regulations and new financial technologies. Derivatives are types of securities with a price dependent on one or more assets. Derivatives themselves are contracts between two or more parties based on the underlying asset or assets.

Justin Sliney Managing Director During his 17-year career working as a trader and eventually Managing Director for Rabobank International, Justin Sliney spent many months of in Latin America. He spent time working out deals and meeting clients in Sao Paolo, Mexico City, and Santiago, helping his company construct lucrative trade deals with partners in these places. Sliney created many opportunities for expansion for Rabobank in his career. Justin Sliney attended the French Culinary Arts Institute, completing his first year of study in the evenings while he worked for the large Dutch financial institution Rabobank.

Justin Sliney Bank Managing during a Crisis For many years, Justin Sliney focused on Latin American opportunities for Rabobank until the financial crisis in the United States of 2008 called his attention back to New York City to deal with the market challenges following Lehman Brothers’ collapse. During this time, he teamed with his company’s lawyers and compliance officers to quickly learn the new regulatory environment. Justin Sliney is a financial expert, trader, and manager who has worked for a few of the largest international banking firms in the world. He has built a long and impressive career in the financial sector and has traveled to many places as a part of his work.
