Reference page: hardcover 174 Quotation Marks are used in text to identify the exact words a person has spoken They are placed before the first word and after the last word spoken Usually there are words before or after the quotation that indicate who is speaking. These are separated from the spoken words by commas

Pronouns are function words that are used in place of nouns. Different nouns have different functions Most pronouns have antecedents- nouns to which they refer 1.Ken is on the football team. He plays tight end. 2. Ramdas believes that someone with an injury should not play.

Look at the second sentence: The underlined word someone is also a pronoun! Someone is a special type of pronoun, an indefinite pronoun Indefinite pronouns do not refer to definite people or things. Indefinite pronouns refer to unspecified or unknown people or things. Indefinite pronouns do not have antecedents.
