Senior Undergraduate Project Grants Who can apply for the Grant? Grant application must be submitted by the faculty member(s) responsible for the project What is funded by the Grant? Funds used to fund equipment and supplies for senior project or 2 year technical school projects Computer hardware not funded University overhead and faculty or student salaries will not be funded.

Senior Undergraduate Project Grants What is the Senior Undergraduate Project Grant ? The ASHRAE Senior Undergraduate Project Grant Program provides grants to engineering, technical and architectural schools worldwide with the goal of increasing student knowledge, learning and awareness of the HVAC&R industry through the design and construction of senior projects. Grants are to be used to fund equipment and supplies for senior projects and 2-year technical school projects that focus on ASHRAE-related topics.

Senior Undergraduate Project Grants What is the Senior Undergraduate Project Grant (cont’d)? – Grants are funded up to $5,000. – Many schools are awarded the Grant annually. – Funding from other sources is highly encouraged but not required.

Senior Undergraduate Project Grants What makes a Grants Application Successful? Has an ASHRAE-related topic Has a well stated purpose Engages many students and contributes to the broader learning experience of many students. Description not overly technical Materials list and budgeted amount Does not exceed $5,000 Include any equipment donations, financial support and mentor support from local industry and local ASHRAE chapter Application filed on time. Late applications will not be accepted.

Senior Undergraduate Project Grants What Dates do I need to know of for Grants? – Applicants will receive notification by February 18 th – An unaccepted project proposal may be revised and re- submitted the following year. – Funds for successful Grant applications are available after August 2 nd.

Senior Undergraduate Project Grants What are the responsibilities of Grant Recipients? – Any funded project not completed (as indicated by non- receipt of a mid-year progress or final report) will result in the removal of the school from consideration for additional grants. – A video of the grant project will be expected with the final report. Video will be a minimum of two minutes, max 5 minutes

Senior Undergraduate Project Grants How can SA Chairs help promote the Grants? email blast to schools in the area with student branches (faculty) reach out to schools with applicable programs (Seek out schools and faculty who should be applying) grant recipients to do poster sessions or “table top” at CRC & Chapter
