14. Paul chose/preferred the path of living and serving the Philippians, confirmed as God’s will in the New Testament and church history. Plus, he was the recipient of deferred joy (going to heaven later) as the Philippians received preferred joy (progress in their faith now).

16. Paul appeals to the Philippians – As you eagerly and carefully live up to the favor of the Emperor and his decrees, conduct yourself in a manner that displays your submission to Jesus and His gospel.
