3 Joy is not based on what happens to us, but on what happens in us.

4 “…away from the body and at home with the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 5:8)

5 Do you know that you know Jesus Christ in a personal, spiritual, faithful relationship wherein you love Him for His forgiveness and you serve Him because you love Him?

6 Torn = Stuck between two desires Used of a traveler on a narrow trail with a rock wall on both sides

10 CHOOSE = PREFER

11 Active voice: I choose.

12 CHOOSE = PREFER Active voice: I choose. Passive voice: I was chosen.

13 CHOOSE = PREFER Active voice: I choose. Passive voice: I was chosen. Middle voice: I chose myself.

14 Paul chose/preferred the path of living and serving the Philippians, confirmed as God’s will in the New Testament and church history. Plus, he was the recipient of deferred joy (going to heaven later) as the Philippians received preferred joy (progress in their faith now).

15 Conduct = POLITEUESTHE = To live as a citizen

16 Paul appeals to the Philippians – As you eagerly and carefully live up to the favor of the Emperor and his decrees, conduct yourself in a manner that displays your submission to Jesus and His gospel.

17 “Our citizenship is in heaven.” (Philippians 3:20)

25 Living in a Manner Worthy of the Gospel 1.Stand firm in one spirit. 2.Contending as one man for the faith of the gospel. 3. Without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you.

26 Lack of Fear is a sign that: Opposition will be destroyed. You will be saved.
