2. Definition
Work-based learning is a continuum of awareness, exploration, preparation and work experiences developed through strong public and private partnerships. Work-based learning participants develop, apply, and are assessed on academic, technical, trade, and entrepreneurial skills that support their future career success.

Instructional Worksite Learning
“Instructional Worksite Learning” means a learning experience that takes place in the community (or school, if the experience is comparable to that in a community setting) as an embedded part of a specific course content where the student performs tasks in order to gain desired skills, competencies, qualifications, or industry certifications through direct instruction.
Cooperative Worksite Learning
“Cooperative Worksite Learning” means a learning experience where students practice in the community (or school, if the experience is comparable to that in a community setting) the skills and knowledge learned in the classroom. An employer/employee relationship must exist if the work performed by the student results in a net increase in productivity or profitability for the business or organization.

5. Certification
Our office cannot grant any CTE Conditionals as of yesterday (6/13/16) for Worksite Learning and/or Worksite Learning and Career Choices. Even if completion the WSL course, our office cannot grant the CTE conditional certificate (as some applicants/teachers were instructed to do before 6/13/16).
The teacher/applicant will need to enroll in the BLOCK I (college/university route) or BLOCK II (Business and Industry route program) in an area other than Worksite Learning and work towards obtaining the CTE Initial.
If you have completed the Worksite Learning course, and hold a CTE probationary, CTE initial or CTE continuing please use the Form 4075W and submit the signed original to our office. You can Kelli Bennett for the form at
