1 Slovak hockey player * 29.11.1974 Dubnica nad Váhom † 07.09.2011 Jaroslavl, Russia

2 Pavol Demitra was a Slovak professional ice hockey player. He started with hockey in Dubnica in 1991. He played sixteen seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL), two in the Czechoslovak First Ice Hockey League. Slovak League and one in the Continental Hockey League (KHL)

3 Hockey striker NHL represented Slovakia at the world championships in 1996, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2007. Presented to the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City. For the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin, was captain of Slovak team. Also represents the World Cup in 1996 and 2004.

4 He won in NHL in 2000 Lady Byng Trophy, in its best season 2002/2003 received 93 points (36 goals + 57 assists), which accumulated in 82 matches. Played in the NHL All-Star Game in 1999, 2000 and 2002 Fifth on St. Louis Blues' all-time scoring list – 204 goals, 289 assists, 493 points in 494 games. He was declared the best hockey player in Slovakia in 2003 in a poll Golden Puck

5 In 1997 he became champion of Slovakia, played for Dukla Trencin. In team of CSFR in 1992 was the European champion in 18 years, finished third World Cup players to 20 years in 1993.

7 9th May 2011 after the World Cup 2011 in Bratislava and Košice ended his career in a representative jersey of Slovakia. He wore jersey number 38.

8 Pavol Demitra tragically died 7th September 2011 in a plane crash of Soviet production Yak- 42. The aircraft collided with the start of the antenna mast and crashed shortly afterwards. Part of the aircraft fell into the river Volga.
