* Born on July 23, 1942 * Raised by her grandmother * Born into slum elements * Father was an abusive alcoholic * Sister Maureen died at a very young age * Father taught her to fight and she protected sisters friend Pauline from bullies * Lost her best friend to a drowning accident * Fascinated by her best friends dead body * Met Ian Brady while working and fell instantly in love in 1961 * Very abusive towards her but she loved him anyway

* Gave total control over herself to Brady * Started out as a getaway driver for Brady’s robberies in 1963 * Brady drugged, raped, and took pictures of Hindley * Hindley was used to seduce women and children into the car so Brady can rape and kill them * Known as the Moors Murderers * First victim- Pauline * Hindley drove her to a “dance” and tricked Pauline into being raped by Brady * Brady beat and decapitated her while Hindley helped burry her body

* Hindley said she would be better prepared for future murders with Brady * Next victim- 12 year old John Kilbride * Keith- 12 year old boy * Lesley- 10 year old girl * All victims killed by rape and beating where Hindley was driving the car * Hindley worked for this process because she acted as a caregiver to the children * Last murder was a boy named Evans * Hindley’s cousin witnessed the murder and went to tell the police * Police arrested Brady but didn’t have evidence against Hindley * Hindley told David about other victims and he tried to convince the police about it * While Brady was away she destroyed all evidence but police eventually found a book saying that David was going to be the next murder and Hindley was arrested as well * Brady and Hindley were brought to trial on April 27, 1966 but pleated not guilty * They were guilty and they got sentenced to prison for life

* I chose the social control theory because she wasn’t close with her family and didn’t learn good social skills at a young age. She was seduced by Brady into thinking he was a good guy and this led to the ultimate reason why she became a criminal.
