LKCS Mission The LKCS was created to help elementary and middle school aged students who may be experiencing academic, social, and/or personal difficulties in a traditional school setting. Our goal is to improve learning, increase learning opportunities for students, and encourage the use of a variety of productive teaching methods. Our educational curriculum focuses on the whole student by improving their academic development and promoting their social and personal growth.

Annual Report The goal of tonight’s PowerPoint presentation is to focus on student performance data for the LKCS. The following slides have been created to do the following: Chart data over a five year period Provide demographic information on the student population Identify GTA and Special Needs students Chart various student testing and assessment data Provide measurable school-wide Reading and Math goals for the current year Review our new path moving forward Reiterate our purpose

6 Demographics: Population The chart below tracks yearly student population at the LKCS from 2011-Present. Counts were based on raw numbers serviced and does not exclude withdrawals throughout the year. Standardized Test Scores In order to develop measureable goals for student academics, the LKCS did an assessment of student performance on standardized test scores for the past five years. To maintain the integrity of our data, we opted to compare previous PASS scores. Last year’s ACT Aspire was not included in this assessment, as there were no other ACT test scores to compare it with. The following charts and graphs provide an overview of our student performance in ELA, Math, Science and Social Studies.

SRI Testing The LKCS purchased the Scholastic Reading Inventory (SRI) Test in October to provide our students with the same computer-adaptive reading comprehension tests currently used throughout the District. Students were tested at that time and will be retested to chart their growth in January and April. We have also included 30 minutes of every class period, in every grade, to focus on increasing student vocabulary, improving reading fluency and testing comprehension. Our goal is to see an increase of 10 percentage points in students with Advanced and Core scores and a decrease of 10 percentage points in students with Intensive and Strategic scores.

Study Island Assessment The LKCS purchased Study Island (SI) to assess student comprehension of curriculum standards in Reading, Math, Science and Social Studies. Students were given Pre-Tests this fall in Reading and Math. These scores were used as baseline for the schools Challenge To Achieve (CTA) Plan. Students will be given a Post Test in April to determine their growth from Fall to Spring. All students have enrolled in Enrichment courses in Reading and Math to help move scores upward. Enrichment Teachers have been asked to focus on those standards in which students scored poorly, use student Lexile scores to assign reading meant to enforce progression and review basic Math skills and orders of operation.

LKCS New Path Forward On October 12, 2015, the charter schools became more "standards focused", which means we have added a new curriculum standards component to every class, for every grade level. The motivation behind this change is to set a higher level of academic performance for our students. This new path forward has tested and motivated our Administration, Teachers, Staff Members and Students for the better.

LKCS Purpose We believe every child can learn, but not necessarily in the same way or at the same speed. We also know the accomplishments of every student, no matter how small, should be celebrated. This is especially true for a child overcoming huge achievement gaps or serious social/medical struggles. Our daily purpose is to educate every student, regardless of their academic level, when they enter our doors to the best of our God given abilities.

End-Of-Course Test Scores The End-of-Course-Examination Program (EOCEP) was developed to assess student performance in benchmark courses needed for graduation. The APAA did an assessment of student performance on End-of-Course (EOC) examinations for the past four years. The following charts and graphs provide an overview of our student performance in English I, Algebra I, Biology I and U.S. History.

65 APAA Purpose The APAA was created to showcase the talents of area high school students in the performing and visual arts; while offering a college preparatory curriculum. Unlike a magnate or State run performing arts school, which requires students to audition, our school is open to any high school aged child interested in receiving arts training. APAA students produce two major shows each year. This does not include their art-related events held annually. Each department is responsible for every facet of our productions. We believe the responsibility of producing our performances promotes character, confidence, team work and leadership skills that translate positively from school into their daily lives.
